It’s pure, simple fun
Clearly written, great one-liners, enough pathos to not turn into The Big Bang Theory for middle grades, it’s a joy to watch. Yes, real therapists wouldn’t act like this, but anyone with a functioning brain knows that from this point of view, criticism is just negativity to bring down the rating. Are some characters stereotypes?
Finally, who knew Harrison Ford was such a light-hearted comedic actor?
Yes, but you can’t hurt and you shouldn’t put up with anyone. FYI, I worked with a gay guy who was exactly the stereotype presented here. The real success here is combining the seriousness of therapy and grieving with the growing pains of life at different ages, stages and lifestyles and making it very funny.
